To coincide with Pokémon’s 30th anniversary, the 10th generation has also been announced: Wind and Wave will be released in 2027.
It’s hard to believe, but Pokémon has now turned 30. The first games in the series, Red and Green, were released 30 years ago and have captivated millions of people ever since. The franchise has since expanded into many different areas: anime, trading cards, mobile games, and much more. Therefore, the anniversary presentation was highly anticipated, especially given the amount of speculation beforehand about what might be shown.
In addition to a few updates for mobile games like Sleep, Pocket, and GO, there was also information about the TCG World Championship in San Francisco this year, as well as a new trailer for Pokopia, which will be released next week. But everyone was waiting for the final trailer of the presentation, as the 10th generation of main series games was eagerly anticipated. And there was a sneak peek, because “Windchu” and “Wellchu,” two heavily disguised Pikachu, showed us what to expect next year.
In the next installment of the series, we’ll be transported to several picturesque islands surrounded by a vast ocean teeming with shimmering waves. We’ll explore this open world with one of two main characters, each with a different outfit depending on the version. Of course, before embarking on our journey, we’ll also have to choose one of three starter Pokémon. For Generation 10, these are Browt, Pombon, or Gecqua. Browt is a Beancup Pokémon of the Grass type. Pombon is a Fire-type and a Pup, and Gecqua is a Water Gecko Pokémon of the Water type.
Furthermore, the games will support Brazilian Portuguese as an official game language for the first time. The goal is to make the games more accessible to a wider audience worldwide.
